Starting my new business.

I have worked for myself for a while now. My first company was a Web Development and Design company and I was contracted by different businesses to help with their websites. This was great, I loved working with different people and being my own boss. But it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. Sometimes you get stuck doing a job and because you become successful at it you just stick with it. It’s hard to get out.

Luckily I had the support around me to try something else and be happier with what I am doing. I started woodturning and woodworking and loved it. I made many wooden bowls and sold them at craft fairs which I loved but it want enough for me. I wanted more - more customers, more fun and I wanted to be busier. It was my dream one day to have an event hire company, my woodturning business wasn’t bringing me much work and I was, quite frankly, bored. I needed to do something else.

I am a bit of a risk taker if I have the right support behind me. So I did it. I started making products to rent out for events. I started with my 3 foot LED letters and made some errors along the way such as using the wrong lights - and wood!

After making a few [wrong] letters, I decided to cut my losses and start again with different wood and different (much more expensive) lights. This time they were much better - better quality, brighter lights and more sturdy. Once I had made a few new letters, I started making numbers, too. Once I started promoting these, the more orders I got the more products I made.

After a few first orders, I realised people like balloon work with their numbers so I decided this was something I had to learn and add on! After a few attempts I realised I was pretty good at it and now balloon work has become one of my most popular add ons!

As the months go on, I am getting more bookings daily, I am always adding to my collection and I absolutely love my business and my clients!
